The Brazilian wax originated in a place where tiny bikinis are worn and the incredible rate at which it has gained in popularity can leave little doubt that there is truly something special about it. The Brazilian wax basically takes it ALL away sometimes leaving just a tiny strip of closely shorn hair in the front (which is then referred to by some as a “landing strip”, a “playboy” or inverted “v”).
Avoiding caffeine for 5 hours before getting waxed will greatly reduce sensitivity. Caffeine restricts the blood vessels so skin is not getting as much blood flow which increases sensitivity. Taking an Ibuprofen 1 hour before will aid in reducing sensitivity and inflammation. Gently exfoliate the night before your appointment.
There is some discomfort involved, however most women find it quite tolerable. Remember everyone's threshold for pain is different. Our Licensed Aestheticians work quickly and because of our proprietary technique the pain is greatly minimized.
3-4 weeks is recommended. It takes time to grow out each of the 3 cycles. If you come in prematurely you may not achieve a desirable result.
We recommend booking every 4-6 weeks depending on your hair growth.
Waxing slows down and reduces hair growth. Hair also grows much thinner thus making it easier to remove and less painful when waxed. Shaving just one time in between will negate all that is gained from waxing and can further irritate follicles which can cause ingrown hair. So, no, we don’t advise shaving in between.
Are there any topical creams or medications that I should avoid prior to getting waxed?
Yes! Internal Medication such as Accutane and topicals that include Retin-A, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Differin, Tazorac, Avage, Strivectin, Renova, ProActive, Avita, Benzoyl Peroxide. All of the above mentioned can enhance skin sensitivity that could lead to lifting of the skin when removing hair.
We do accept walk-ins however we recommend scheduling in advance so as to avoid an extended wait. Please be early or on time to avoid losing your appointment. If you’re unable to keep an appointment we appreciate calling within 24 hours prior if possible.
You should wait 3-5 days to get waxed after you have tanned. You should never get waxed if you are sunburned or even if skin is pink. The very top layer of skin could pull off or “lift” which is painful and can result in scabbing. You should wait for 3 days after you have waxed to tan. Waxed skin is more photosensitive and is more susceptible to burning.
If you have been shaving, there may be a transition period. It generally requires 2-3 consistent waxes to achieve optimal results which are: 3-4 weeks of hairlessness, softer hair, and less hair growing back. If you haven’t been shaving prior to getting waxed, these results may be obtained more quickly.
Exfoliating in the shower with a body brush or loaf mitten's every other day helps to keep the skin free from cellular buildup which can trap hair.
